46, 4 degrees, and thinking about med school

Code:

Hi everyone. So, here's my story in a nutshell. I earned a BA (3.45 gpa) and a BS (3.1 gpa) in 1995. I earned an MA in 1999 with a 3.85 gpa. I then completed an MBA in 2009 with about a 3.2 gpa. I did this going to school full time while working 70 hour weeks full time, plus having to travel for work. I have 15 years invested in a career in marketing and have not enjoyed anything other than the salary.

I really miss the sciences and I miss working with the public. I have been volunteering in the community for almost 20 and have loved it.

Medicine to me means helping people while I work then being able to help individuals in third world countries through volunteer work after I retire.

I have been thinking med school for a long time, even before

starting my MBA. I will need to take all the science pre-reqs again. If I can hover around 3.5 or 3.7 in those 50 or so credit, do I have a chance of getting into med school?

Any feedback you can offer would be great appreciated.

welcome Mcope this forum will help you out a lot with any questions and concerns you might have.

as far as wondering if you have a chance of getting into med school? Of COURSE you do! Make yourself a game plan, take one step at a time, stay positive, get the grades, and things fall into place as they should.

The questions you need to be able to address, in both your application and interviews with schools, are

“Why medicine?”

“Why now? Why not earlier?”

Think long and hard about these. Medical schools want to be assured that you know what you are getting yourself into.
