I just got accepted into their post bacc program (yay!)and I have a few questions concerns. The big one here is, is it worth it??
-I haven’t heard much about the program and I cant seem to find a great deal of information on linkages, or success rates into medical school. Is this school perceived well by IL medical schools?
-Even with financial aid, the program is very expensive. I don’t want to invest in more loans if the same could really be accomplished by going to a good community/ jr. college (Oakton for ex). My only problem here is that my undergraduate GPA was less than stellar to say the least so I dont know that good grades at a community college will really help.
I am having such a hard time getting an honest answer from any medical school (the ‘pc’ answer is “any school is fine as long as the school is accredited”)
Any advice would be great!
It IS well respected - that is a very good quality school and you will likely have opportunities to have meaningful research experience as well should you have aspirations that way. Hopefully Lorien will chime in shortly as she did their post-bacc premed program.
The money issue is harder to say, but I’d think good grades in their challenging post-bac would stand you in better stead than good grades at a community college. Post-baccs also have the advantage of giving you premed advising, help with application, etc.
