Quote: Seriously, some of these interviews follow such a stock format that all you can really do is make sure you get all of the relevant buzz words out and then leave.
It’s a lot like preparing a CV for a job. Forget a key “buzz words” and you CV goes to the reject pile!
I had another thought on this, money, There’s a perception that you can make as much money as a PA or NP and be just as happy! Bull I say. You will never be on the top always somewhere in the middle. Having to ask Doctors and refer to Doctors, we want more Automony with our Pt’s. Ya know Money is not everything! But Advisors think it is. They are wrong!
Not sure I agree. I have never met anyone who said the money was equivalent, if you are comparing apples to apples. There is nowhere that a PA can make the same amount as a physician in the same field. I’ve looked into PA school and was in the process of applying. My wife and I had a long talk about it and realized that for me it’s not the right decision. Money did come up but more than the money was the fact of my future happiness would depend on my working relationship with my supervising physician. It’s a question about limits. I think this was posted already. I don’t want to be limited in my scope of practice. PA’s have limits but more freedom to pick & choose. Physicians have the final say and so the buck stops with them…which is good and bad. I’m rambling. My point is I haven’t heard of anyone who thinks PA’s make as much as physicians.
Quote: Public health clinic docs in small twons can easily make LESS than a surgical PA in a large city.

PA make 50K to 125K depending where and when NP is same but usually Higher than the PA in a range
RN make 40k to 90k depending on where and when
FP (Doc) makes low 120k up to about 250k
So it is possible for a PA to make as much as a FP or IM Doc. if they are on the low end and PA on the high end.
I do not compare but that feeling is out there you have to consider one more point, Malpractice. An FP on their own will pay 75 to 120k a year for malpractice too a PA will not. So who will make more?
Malpractice can be paid by Hospitals and Doc groups.

Yea Croooz I agree with you, but the Some of these Butt heads who are advisors think we would be happy with second place and not 1st place. I really do not care about money that much.
Even some Docs advise that PA is better? Notice they are not a PA!!!
Oooooo…don’t start me on that one. The pre-PA’s I’ve talked use “Doc’s always tell me they wish they were PA’s…I made the right choice.” My doc told me the same thing one day. The next he said that he wouldn’t give up being a doctor…he would pay for the priviledge to perform surgery. I reminded him about the PA comment. This is the most accurate picture of his facial expression… I think that line is just something some doctors say. It’s kinda like Jim Carrey in Liar, Liar…“pretty on the inside…that’s just something ugly people say”

Yea I think it is "wouldn’t it be nice to have an “Easier Job” " LOL yea everyone thinks that, those of us who have done other jobs know what they are like (RN for Me) and I do not envy anyone just wanna do this!
Anyone & everyone applying as a second-career person must be able to clearly & concisely articulate why they are chaging careers. It does not matter if the progression is obvious to you, YOU must be able to clearly state why & articulately defend the decision in an interview situation.
