dentistry-pro's and cons?

I am wondering for those of you who considered or are thinking of dentistry, what are some cons? So far, the biggest one I know of is the financial challenge of setting up your own practice-the expense. Is it possible to make a decent living and not have your own practice? I actually would prefer to work in a group practice or dental clinic owned by another entity, since setting up your own practice is so expensive. Where else can dentists work
if they don't want to go solo? Do they earn less if they don't go solo?
