INTRODUCTION: Older pre-med with complete turnaround in GPA

I’ve been lurking for a while, but it’s time to join and contribute to this fantastic community. I am in my mid-thirties and am applying for the class of 2018.

I’ve been on a 7 plus year journey to get to this point. I basically flunked out of college in my early 20s. In my late twenties, I found my purpose and pursued it with passion. First, I repaired my academic reputation: two years of community college , two years of state college, two years of grad school, and two-years of post bacch. Second, I gained experience by shadowing, and working clinical jobs and research positions. Third, I volunteered in my community. My first 100 credits had a 1.3 GPA. I applied myself and my next 160 credits had a 3.9 GPA

It’s very exciting to be at this point, and I look forward to running the rest of this marathon with some of you.

welcome. There are many stories like yours. It took me 13 years to go from start to finish. You still have a long road ahead but keep going.
