New Pilot Elective System

As recently posted on AAMC. If you want to take an elective at any of the 10 schools listed below, you will need to use this system. This may be in place in the next year or two for most schools:

“The Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) is a brand-new AAMC application designed to streamline the application process for senior “away” electives at other U.S. medical schools.”

The following 10 schools will be receiving visiting student applications through VSAS:

  • Boston University School of Medicine

  • Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons

  • Georgetown University School of Medicine

  • Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine

  • University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine

  • University of Kansas School of Medicine

  • University of Michigan Medical School

  • University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine

  • University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio

  • Wake Forest University School of Medicine

I’m in favor of consolidation measures of any kind. Beware, however, if the corrupt “secondary” system seeps into this would-be labor saver. Which should happen (looks at his watch) any minute now.
