Nursing Assisting/Volunteering

I’m a certified nursing assistant and am planning to work at a long-term care facility. I’m also planning on possibly doing some free tutoring.

Obviously, you guys don’t know exactly what adcoms will think, but I’d like to know your opinion on what I’m thinking of doing.

Too little? If so, what would you suggest supplementing it with?

Just a thought from a nurse who currently works in long term care and has also been in the hospital…I would try to get a patient care assistant job in the hospital. Better experience. Better patient to staff ratios.

Tutoring sounds like an excellent volunteer idea

There are positions like that, but I need extremely specific hours so it doesn't interfere with a full classload. The hours at the nursing home are only weekends, so that works perfectly. I hope to get a hospital job and I think experience would definitely help there.
