Post your MCAT date!

It’s just about that time of year again - MCAT time - and I’ve seen many OPMers mention that they are scheduled to take the exam soon. To help us all stay on track, and to help us better encourage each other, I thought perhaps people who are interested could post their MCAT date on this thread.

I’m taking the MCAT May 23.

Best wishes to everyone taking it this season!

July 2nd here.

May 18th

eeek ; )

Hey all!

I CAN’T believe it’s time already to prepare for our “friend.”

My test date is May 30th.

All me have to do is stay the course and believe that we can make it; WE WILL!

I wish you all the best of luck. I remember that period last year, and it was not easy. Yet we all make it through, and so will you.

Please keep us posted.

Thank you for the encouragement, redo-it-all!

May 30th!

Good luck all.

Sept 12 here!

Study, study, study during the summer and then take a year off…WooT, life is good.

God Speed to everyone; give it all that you’ve got!

Good luck everyone! Your hard work will pay off!

April 27th! So far it looks like I’ll be the first OPM to take the plunge this year. Yikes. There must be other OPMS testing before me.

April 26th at 8 a.m.

Coming up fast! My hubby was just hospitalized for a week with a severe hand infection and he’s finally home now on IV antibiotics. It’s playing havoc with my studying for physics and for the MCAT. Just trying to hang in there till it slows down a bit.

Deb

Oh, Deb, you got me beat. A day ahead of me. Sorry to hear about your husband. Hang in there. Some transportation issues and some major 4 year old meltdowns have been playing havoc with my study schedule, too! The stress of ochem, physics, the MCAT, etc. sometimes have nothing on the stress of parenting (and marriage). The issues we tackle in our day to day lives are prepping us well for the next chapter.

Looks like Deb and I are on the same schedule: 4/26 8am, and applying in this cycle.

Isn’t it amazing how fast time is flying now that you’re signed up for the MCAT?!

Sending positive energy and best wishes to everyone now that Test Day is drawing near. Took the MCAT in May 2011 and remember how crazed I was at this point…good luck to you all!

June 20th (late, I know)

Time is flying now! It’s 3/17! Holy crud this is getting real.

Took a VR Kaplan Section Test today and got an ugly 73% (29/40). I have zero idea what that would mean as a raw score as it seems hard to convert the section tests to raw scores, but to me it does not scream “10” or anything. So, lots of VR work yet to do. It’s crunch time!

My strategy from now on is:

Take Practice full lengths 2 x’s per week. Do VR section tests (Kaplan or work my EK 101 VR book) every other day in between (or at least do two/week of these), flashcards every day at any moment of “down time”, memorizing equations.

Anyone else have any strategies in place from now until test day? I know we are all getting close.

I’m still finishing up content review right now. Then on to practice questions, and finally full-length practice tests. I feel you, Shannon … trying to squeeze in MCAT every moment possible!

I usually listen to EK Audio Osmosis as much as possible!

I’m going to start making notes from ExamCrackers on 4x6 flash cards so that the information is portable.

Since my test date is May 30th, I’m going to take a AAMC FL every Saturday from April 6 until the week before the test.

It’s nerve wrecking to balance this, think about the AMCAS app, manage to stay on top of LOR writers, and, oh yeah, the actual classes that I have this semester.

It’s funny, because as much as I complain, it’s ALL under control and I WOULDN’T have it any other way!

Totally nerve wracking indeed. Last day of Spring Break for me is today and it’s hard to think about having to jump back into classes. I spent break in MCAT mode and wish I could just continue that, but now the pesky classes come into play again. Argh.

I am just glad it is all winding down, though. I did AAMC 3 which according to everyone is not really indicative of much, but I thought it would be good practice nonetheless as I just finished up content review with Kaplan this past Wed. I got a 31 on it. Because of this test’s reputation I was hoping for higher, but it’s a start. I got a 9PS, 12VR, 10BS. I thought my VR would be worse, but I got 36/40. I thought BS would be better than a 10 and I was hoping to finally crack 10 on PS. So, my results on AAMC3 were not as expected, but I went through everything and see the mistakes I made. Lots of just missing details. There was only 1 question I simply did not know the answer to. Kaplan FL #1 (which I took before content review was done) was a 29 (9PS, 9VR, 11BS). So, it seems, if anything, I am getting more used to the format. I took the 3 EK VR exams in the VR & Math techniques book, but I got 8’s on all 3! Maddening. Then, I was getting about 73% on a few Kaplan VR section tests and then I did a 3 passage Kaplan VR test and scored 90%. My VR is all over the map. I am planning to do more EK tests out of the 101 VR book and see if I can get some consistent (and improved) scores. I think I will do Kaplan FL #2 today. It’s been a few days since I did AAMC3, so it may be the right time to dig into another full length.

I am doing far less content review and more testing, though, for sure. I will review only areas of weakness, but even then I tend to just utilize Kaplan’s Qbank so I am given questions rather than just going over my books and notes.

So, that’s the scoop on my MCAT progress. April 27th is getting close. Time is going to whiz by, but then I’ll be done with it! What sweet relief that will be.

Keep posting your progress (and tips) everyone! I’m rooting for us all!
