Well, it’s been about a year since I dropped by (took the very wise, in my opinion, advice of reading pre-med forums enough to get some basic info but not enough to get neurotic about the whole process and left after a couple of months) but I thought I would throw an update out here. Graduated from my local community college last Saturday with a cumulative 3.614 GPA. I even got the vice president to say my middle name was Batman during the ceremony (if you can’t have fun, why go?) That’s after starting back with a 2.815 from earlier less than mature attendance back in the 90s and getting four semesters of straight As. When I average in the 12 CR of straight Fs (/sigh) at a four year college back in the 90s, I’m at a 3.185. I’m off to a four year institution in the fall with a $3000 scholarship. I’ll be taking orgo and biology next year to finish off my pre-reqs, along with accounting and statistics towards my Operations Management & Information Systems degree (why take the easy route and go bio or chem =p). All in all, I’m expecting about a 3.5 MD GPA and 3.7 DO GPA, so things are looking great overall. Been a long road so far and a lot longer road ahead, but I still feel as excited about this path as I did when I decided to go down it two and a half years ago.

This is GREAT news! Continue the good fight this upcoming year. A year of straight “A’s” trumps the “other” grades. Have a great summer; you’ve earned it!

Wow, that’s GREAT progress! Sounds like you put together a good plan and have carried it out excellently so far!
Congrats!

Awesome news. Do what Carrie says, check it off the list and keep running.
That’s GREAT news! Pixie–agreed. Just keep on going… one day, one week, one semester at a time.
Head down…pencil up…
Congratulations!
