The introduction post...well here goes!

I am sure that the members of this website always get a kick out of the “newbie” that posts on the site! I will try to keep my intro short and sweet…

I graduated from college with a B.A. in English in 2002. I taught high school English for 8 years and left from a full-time classroom position last school year. During my time in the classroom, I went to grad school earning two Master’s degrees (Curriculum & Instruction AND Educational Leadership and Policy Studies).

After a year of researching program options, I have decided to apply to Charles Drew University in Los Angeles. As a back-up plan, I will go the CC/4-Year route. Based on my understanding of the post-bacc curriculum, the medical school process, and best case scenarios, I will matriculate in medical school by Fall 2014.

While I await a decision about admission to the post-bacc program, I have secured a position to shadow a trauma surgeon at a Level I medical center in L.A. 4 hours a day (I can’t wait for the experience to begin–I get to wear scrubs and actually be in the OR )

Whether I go the formal route or the DIY route, my schedule will be the following (advice on the schedule is appreciated as well):

Fall 2011

Biology I (lecture and lab)

Chemistry I (lecture and lab)

Pre-Calculus

I am looking forward to beginning the next phase of my career. Words can’t express how happy I was to find this website and other individuals who have had the same goals as I.
