According to this grid by AMCAS, applicants with 38+ MCATS and 3.8+ GPA’s have a 92% chance of being admitted to med school!

And they say MCAT’s don’t “rule” an application!!

We all knew that the 4.0s and the 42-T MCATs don't always get admitted, but wouldn't you have expected that rate to be higher?

And maybe the stats are skewed by those who actually matriculated vs. those who were accepted and then deferred for PhD programs or something.

Boy that 8% must be horrible intreviewers. Ofcourse with some pre-meds I have met it wouldn’t surprise me.

I actually expected the number in that high GPA and MCAT range to be lower, owing to the idea that numbers supposedly don't mean "everything".

Of course, I've heard since forever that a high MCAT can write a ticket to med school, so that part wasn't surprising.
