Autobiographical letter

Does one write an autobiographical letter in the 1st or 3rd person? !! Duhhh?

I’ve seen resumés written in both ways - but I’m just wondering if in the context of an application to med school, one format is preferable over the other.

That’s a good question, and one for which I need to find an answer as well. My intuition says 1st person, but I’ve see it done both ways too. To this poster, 3rd person sounds a bit fake, but if there is a rule, one would do well to follow it.

The poster who calls himself Tim

Nicely done, Tim I agree with the person to whom I could refer in the second person.

Think about it…if it is autobiographical, it would be first…if it was unauthorized autobiographical it would be the third (although who would write an unauthorized autobiographical letter?).
