Hello everyone, I am a 32 year old Physician Assistant who is taking the leap AGAIN to achieve my ultimate dream. Ive been thinking about going to medical school since the age of 5 and somewhere got distracted and talked out of doing my hearts passion they way I want. (Sigh).I have to take Physics 2, Organic 1 and 2 and biochemistry and the MCAT to apply. Im making myself accountable now by joining the forum which I’ve enjoyed in the last few days. I’m going to do this!!! BTW, are there any other Physician Assistants on this forum??
Welcome to OPM! And to this crazy, wonderful journey. I can attest to its being both crazy and wonderful–I started my post-bac in the fall of 2010 and will finally be heading to med school fall of 2015. Don’t get discouraged at the bumps in the road or detours (and there will probably be some of both). OPM is a place for both venting and encouragement. Glad you’re here.
Thank you solo much. I feel very loved from your response
As someone who teaches PA students, and employs them I would have to ask you a very important question…
What is it that you wish to achieve? Is it is that you are unfulfilled with being a PA? Is it the quest to make more income? I commend you on what you want, but you are probably looking at adding another 8-10 years of education to your world. Not to mention lack of salary for 4-5 years, followed by minimal salary for 3-5 years. If you will never be happy unless you are a Physician, then you must go for it. Don’t let anything stand in your way!!!
