Class of 2016 Chat

haha yes phcat, makes absolute sense, i feel that same way and it’s hard to explain.

i hope all you guys are still doing well. have my first block final this week so it’s been a long weekend of studying…

My school has block scheduling and we just finished block 1 last Friday. Going well so far: I was pleasantly shocked to see my grades as they came out. Still trying to work out ways to be more efficient with my time and spend more time with my family but so far, so good.

I’m looking forward to white coat at the end of October. My husband just bought me a nice stethoscope (I think that it is a surprise though so I haven’t said anything to him

I have been getting to know some of the other non-trads at my school. I’m just so happy to have met other students with a little extra maturity who I can relate to.

Big news today for everyone graduating 2015 and 2016 (and beyond)

Universal GME- We’re all ACGME now

I’m a little nervous as to how this will be implemented, but excited as well.

Me too. This should really reduce a few of the hurdles I face as a Canadian. At least I hope so.

White coat today!!

hey everyone, finally have some time to relax for the thanksgiving break. getting towards the end of neuro block for me. hope everyone is doing well and still enjoying med school. it sure beats working!

Wow, we really got busy, lol. Here I felt bad because I dropped off the face of the earth once school started.I am just finishing up Sping Break, which was preceded by a month with 4 tests in 11 days, and then three tests in a week. Hope everyone is doing well. We are now about 3/16th of a doctor.

Congrats on finishing first year everyone! What are your summer plans?

Hi Desert! Hope you had a great first year! I’m doing a research project involving abdominopelvic CT utilization with the ED over the summer. Emergency medicine is an area I’m interested in, so I thought this would be a good way to get a lot of exposure there and see if I like it (in addition to the time I’m in the department collecting data, I’ll also be shadowing).

Other than that, not much planned. My husband and I went to Finland and Russia over spring break, so we don’t have any big plans for a summer vacation - probably just visiting family in nearby states, etc. I realized I haven’t had this much free time since I was 14! so I’m enjoying just lounging around.

What are your plans? How are things in Arizona? Good to hear from you

Went to the OPM Conference last Friday. Met some of the great attendees and caught up with some people but unfortunately could only attend a few hours so I didn’t get to do the dinners or social events. Before that I was in Virginia Beach enjoying some well-deserved sand, waves, and relaxation!

For the rest of my summer, I’m doing cardiology research looking at Hispanic women and if they have a higher rate of platelet reactivity when on Clopidogrel after stent placement. Also will be volunteering at our free clinics to get more practice with H&P’s and SOAP notes.

Finally, I want to do some Step 1 studying so I don’t forget everything we’ve learned this first year!

Wanted to bump this thread for all of us Class of 2016’ers who will graduate next month!!!

Congrats everyone, we made it!

Yes, Congrats everyone!!! What are people doing between graduation and the start of residency? Any cool vacation plans?
