Coco at the Bat

“The Outlook wasn’t brilliant for the Medschool nine that day;…

The sneer is gone from Coco’s lip, her teeth are clenched in hate;

She pounds with cruel violence her bat upon the plate.

And now the pitcher holds the ball, and now he lets it go,

And now the air is shattered by the force of Coco’s blow.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;

The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,

And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;

But there is no joy in Medschool - mighty Coco has struck out.”

I held on by a thread

to this dream yet again

and it’s moolah, man

that dash for cash

(and this fucking Recession)

that’s finally done me in.

I’ll be a math teacher again come the fall and I’ll get a supplemental to teach science (in public schools) and maybe help others achieve their dreams of becoming a M.D. All I can do is learn from this situation and try to figure out what in Hell God put me on this Earth for. Adieu et bon chance mes amis! Esta vida es preciosa y nos ganamos una vez. Uselo su tiempo mas sabiamente. Vayan con Dios!
