For fun I wanted to know how much you used a laptop in Med school, I find it the most useful thing I own since 70% of lectures are on PPT and we have copies, Books on PDF and Netters cd, BRS cd’s ect…Not to mention to go online with OPM! 
You know, I didn’t get my laptop until the start of 4th year, when I knew I’d be doing away rotations, but in retrospect, I wish I’d had it before that. Some of my classmates took theirs everywhere. I did use my desktop pretty much daily for all matter of things-- research, PPT, lectures that were on line, etcetara.
