Dealing with stress

I’m starting to get a better idea of what I’ll have to go through as a med student and intern, and I’m just wondering how you all deal with the stress. It’s not so much the politics that concern me, but the extreme hours I’ll be working combined with making life and death decisions. Do you guys just intake a ton of caffeine? While I’m in pretty decent shape, I’m thinking that I’ll be in my late 30’s/early 40’s by the time I get there, so how’s that going to fly when I already generally crave 8 hours of sleep a night to feel “whole”.
I’ve been reading “house of God”, and while medical people give it a mixed review, they seem to agree that it’s an accurate depiction of what you face. Of course Rads is my current preference for a specialty(neurosurgery would be my first choice if I was doing this at 21). But I’ll still have to do rotations in MS3/4 and internship, so I wonder how I will cope. So how do you cope?

I probably put this in the wrong forum
