Any ideas on possible gifts to give my letter writers? I thought a pen or stationary might be a little kitchy.
I gave my letter writers Barnes and Noble gift cards.
Hmmm, I’ve written numerous rec letters over the years and have never received a gift for doing so. Somehow it seems like bribery after the fact. I would be very uncomfortable if a student gave me a gift because I wrote a rec letter. FWIW.

Furthermore, I would presume giving a LOR writer a gift, either before or after the fact, sets a very bad precedent for other students who will be requesting LOR’s from that person.
I agree that giving gifts to letter writers is probabl not a good idea. I would definitely give them a hand-written thank you note, but that would be my limit.
