Hello from Canada

I’ll keep this short and sweet. I am a 28 year old male starting my undergrad in about 13 days. I am in an interdisciplinary Art/Science program. I suspect I may switch to a pure science program in the future.

In the next week or so I will list my motivations for wanting to write the MCAT and apply to medical school.

This forum looks like an invaluable resource. It makes me feel a lot less crazy :).

Why I am thinking of Med School:

  • a comfortable life is not a life IMO

  • take satisfaction in pushing my limits

  • medicine is a beautiful blend of idealism and realism

  • I remain stubbornly positive in the face of other people’s problems

*I am very interested and passionate about my own health and the health of others.

As corny as this is going to sound, the first time I started thinking this was a possibility was when my parents gave me a gift of Dr. Roberta Bondar’s photography book. It made me ask myself, do I just want to be a photographer? Why not both a doctor and photographer?

Certainly will keep the costs of art down for my waiting room, lol. This is why I am “stuck” in an interdisciplinary arts/science program.
