Help Victims of the School Attack in Russia

Yes, I know that the economy isn’t good and that applying to medical school is expensive. But if any of you are interested in assisting the kids from last week’s terrorist attack on the Russian school, here’s the info:
Please make checks payable to: "Embassay of the Russian Federation in the USA"
Please clearly mark them: "To victims of the Beslan Attack"
Mail them to:
The Embassy of the Russian Federation
2650 Wisconsin Avenue NW
Washington, DC. 20007

Is the embassy set up to receive donations? Who has oversight as to the distribution of donations? I just wanted to ask as I stopped doing overseas donations years ago, as I found many of these countries take the supplies, food, etc, and either re-sell it or award it to cronies. (Especially true in Africa)
