I am planning on entering medical school in 2010.
I have taken all the prerequisites except BioChem and Genetics. I was planning on taking a MCAT prep course next semester and not taking any courses, since I already work 55 hours a week. I have a 3.0 gpa. I am lacking strong letters of recommendation from science professors, because I got a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I am planning to do some shadowing soon and research to try to get some recommendations. I have 5 years experience working in human service. I want to get into psychiatry and I volunteered at a psychiatric hospital for two years, but an occupational therapist was my supervisor. Would she be a good recommendation? I am wondering how I look and if a great MCAT will make up for a weak gpa. Any feedback would be appreciated.
