Hello,
I am a 26 yr old chiropractor. I graduated from chiropractic school in Dec of 2019. I enjoy being a chiropractor but have realized my dream and passion for becoming a medical physician.
I am also married and have a 1 yr old son. I am aiming at starting medical school fall of 2022 at the age of 28.
I am interested in how medical schools might view me as an applicant. Obtaining my doctorate degree in chiropractic was not easy. It was a 3 1/2 year program (would have been 4 but we did not get summers off) and often took 30-36 credit hours a semester of the same science courses of the first 2 years of medical school. There are 5 total parts to passing the chiropractic boards set forth by the NBCE (National Board of Chiropractic Examiners).
The intensity of medical school studies does not scare me. I am interested if my chiropractic background helps or hurts me.
Also, would DO schools be more interested since I practice CMT (chiropractic manipulative therapy)?
I am also interested in the military or NHSC to help pay for medical school since I already have a great deal of debt from chiropractic school.
Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
