I need a volunteer, or a few, to help me out with the new mentor site. I want to see how well it works along with what we think should be added and subtracted.
It is going to start out like the old facebook, I personally feel like having a profile dedicated towards premed/med study is the best route to start so that people can get a feel of what your mentor/mentee has/will be doing, where they are located, and what stage your possible mentor/mentee is at. Remember this is going to be a process, so not everything is going to come to fruition anytime soon. Think of this as a pre-alpha release.
Anyone out there who is good with feeling their way around new websites and can kind of figure stuff out without explanation? No crazy web knowledge is needed, I will cover the coding and installation of plug-ins. I would like someone/some people to help fill in content, i.e profile info, blog posts tests, and seeing if widgets and links work and then reporting back to me. I can only come up with so much myself and would like others to test out the fields that are included. Constructive criticism is always welcome!
I would be super grateful to anyone who is willing to step up. It won’t be some crazy time commitment either.

I also want to make sure that the admins of OPM are ok with me doing with. I don’t want to step on any toes and urge them to contact me if they feel the need. I will be more than happy to supply you guys with any contact info needed.

Any chance to add functions to search for mentors within a particular city, specialty etc…

This looks pretty awesome. I may have time in the 2nd half of the summer.
I have talked with the director of OPM and don’t want to get too far ahead of myself. This is an association, and it has to collectively make decisions based on what is best for OPM as a whole. As much as I would love to start, I don’t want to do any development, or waste anyone’s time, until I’ve had a chance to have further talks and set up a plan of action if OPM does decide to add this functionality.
I would love to see demand for this in OPM, I could sure use a mentor, but if OPM doesn’t have the need or backing then there is no real need for a mentoring site.
With that all said, I am excited to start if it does go through, and if not I am A-OK with that too!
