International student with an international degree and no hope in doing post bacc in US with COVID situation

I am a psychology major from Hong Kong with my bachelors completed in Hong Kong as well. I am looking to apply to US and Canadian medical schools. I do not have all the prerequisites completed as my degree is in the social sciences, and I only have a summer worth of credits that were completed in UCLA.

After researching medical school requirements, the majority of schools that accept international students and do not require prerequisites require at least 1 to 3 years of the credits to be completed in the United States. I was planning to do the certificate course at UCLA extension this spring but due to the COVID situation it had to be cancelled. Is it a good idea for me to email schools I want to apply to explaining my situation and asking if they would still look at my application?
