Is med school/field right for me?

Hi everyone!

Here is my back story: my mom is an anesthesiologist and since I was a little kid, I have always loved medicine. I used to be “the doctor” or mom role whenever we played house. I loved taking ticks off my dogs, helping people, and watching tumors or foreign bodies be removed from certain parts of the body in order to fall asleep at night. I am about to graduate (21 y/o) with a degree in finance. However, I don’t know if I want to work in that industry because it is a desk job and I love to move around and constantly ask “why”/learn.

I am a team player (one of five kids), I love to be busy, do well under stress/pressure, love school, I love kids, I love to help people, work towards big goals, I like routines, understanding why things happen the way they do, etc. but I am terrible at reading and test taking which are two big portions of med school.

If you were me, would you go for it and trying to fulfill the passion to help people and be a physician? If so, would you recommend going to get my pre reqs from a local community as a non degree seeking student or a post baccalaureate program?

Thanks for your input and time!
