Just starting out

My name is Gwen and I am a 42 yr old Mom. I chose to begin my career later in life than most people. Now that my children are raised I have nothing but time on my hands.I am currently completing a Course that will give me a Certificate in Medical Assisting, afterwards I plan on becoming Certified and seeking Entry Level Employment. I should finish the course in late Summer of this year. I am also a Student at Kaplan University, seeking a BS in Health Sciences. Once I finish that degree and have graduated I am looking into some Post-Bac Programs, due to the fact that Kaplan is Completley Online, so I will need actual Labs with my Sciences to apply for Med School, thus the reason for the Post-Bac. I will be 48 before I can even apply to Medical School. What chance do I have of even getting accepted into one at that age? I have contemplated a PA program also just in case I dont get accepted into Med School. I love the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, that is where my Passion Lies. Any thoughts?

Your question on age is pretty common on this board. Number one, age discrimination is illegal for medical school admission. Read the following two links:

Number two, posters Presse, craigmire, and Linda Wilson all entered medical school after the age of 48. Also, the following links are two stories of two men who entered medical school after the age of 50:
