Typically, how long is a family practice residency and where do people tend to do this (private practice, hospital, other).
Family Practice residencies are 3 years long, and are done in accredited sites, often based from hospitals
Training as a family physician includes being able to manage hospitalized patients, so some of your time during your three-year residency is spent in the hospital. As a resident, I saw people in the ER, admitted folks to the hospital, managed their hospital stays, consulted with specialists regarding their care, and delivered babies.
