(Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere; I swear I looked!)
Hi all. Considering a few 2-year post-bac programs. I live in LA, and would love to stay close to friends and family. However, USC’s program has no linkage, while NYU, Hopkins and others do…
Can anyone offer advice as to the possible pluses or minuses of linkage?
Thanks!
Pros:
-Skip Gap year and head directly into med school once you finish up year two.
-You save money and stress by not going through the application cycle.
Cons:
-They are typically binding. Once you get link that is where you have to go.
-Slots are limited. Each linkage program accepts only a small amount of postbaccs per cyle.
-You have to get into the linkage. The bar can be high (GPA/MCAT) and the competition stiff.
-You may have to take the MCAT earlier than you would like due to linkage timing i.e. before June/during last semester of 2yr PB.
The Scripps post-bacc program in Claremont/Pomona area has a linkage with George Washington University!
