Med Student Loans

Dear ones, is there a way to pay for tuition (Med School) without having to apply for a private loan? Is there a special student loan for med students?

Thanks, Flavia.

At most US medical schools, you are eligible for federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans each year. The current maximum you are allowed to borrow each year is around $40,500. Whether or not that is enough to cover your tuition/expenses depends largely on where you are going to school. At most state schools, your tuition/fees will be less than that amount if you are an instate student. (You can see an example of cost of attendance at Ohio State here.) Whether or not you need to borrow additional funds (via private loans) will largely depend on how much you need to live on and what other resources you have (spouse, scholarships, etc).
