I finally buckled down and decided to take 2 summer classes: Physics I and Chem II.
Physics I was extremely condensed: a whole semester in 6 weeks! At first, I could handle it and I did beautifully on my first quiz (48/50) but then panicked on the second quizt (32/50). At this point, I was not in such distress because there were 3 quizzes left and we also had a lab grade.
The last week was the worst week I’ve had in a really long time. I got into contact with this guy I’ve had a thing for for 5 years and, to keep it short and impersonal, things went down and I’ve just been between tears and screams all week. Suffice to say, I didn’t do any studying for that week’s 50 point quiz.
My mother suggested I stay home from the test and get a note from my psychiatrist which would hopefully allow me to take the test later. This was not a definite plan, so now maybe I won’t have a note.
We have 2 quizzes left (14%) each and a final (30%$). I have a low B in the class from the first 2 quizzes but basically an F if I can’t retake the third quiz.
I can still withdraw from the class but that means that I a) have a W on my transcript and b)I get no refund from the class.
I’m worried that the W will heavily affect my chances of getting into school given that my ugrad GPA is weak for med schools (3.3) and I don’t have that many extra-currics.
What would you guys do?
a w is better than an F. But talk to the professor first.
