MSAR Equivalent for Osteopathic Schools

Hi All-

I’m wondering if the osteopathic schools have a page that is equivalent to the MSAR page for allopathic schools. I’ve been looking around, but can’t seem to find anything solid. My MCATs are on the lower end for allopathic schools. Cumulative undergrad was a 3.7, undergrad science was 3.3, I had a 4.0 for my M.A. and Ph.D., and have a 3.83 for my post-bac sciences (straight As except a B in Biochem and I took that without having taken gen chem or organic in nearly 20 years). So I feel somewhat good about where I stand, but with the new MCAT it looks like I’m around a 27/28 on the old MCAT, but it’s still hard to make heads or tails of what’s going on. For example, Loyola Stritch has their mean score on the MSAR page at 30, but their mean for their most recent entering class was 504, which would be more like a 28/29. Anyway, I simply need to get in this year (tired of what I do), and I have no qualms with the osteopathic route.

Any advice from the wonderful D.O.s on this forum would be greatly appreciated!

It’s not as user friendly as the MSAR in my opinion, but this has the basic information about all of the DO schools. If you want to be a DO then apply to only DO schools. If you want to be a doctor, I would go down both paths. You seem like a viable candidate if you’re on par with the mean MCAT scores (plus your life experience). I don’t think there is a great direct comparison between the old and new tests, especially since this is only the 2nd or 3rd cycle post MCAT change. The big thing is your overall %ile on the test and how you stack up against the school mean and range. (Some) schools also realize that the MCAT is an estimate, and I believe the score includes a confidence interval, so your number is actually a “score +/- a few” type thing rather than just a solid number. Take that with a grain of salt, I was under the “old” MCAT.

I’m not a DO but I found a file on the interwebs that perhaps you would find useful too. It is created by a user over on that “other” forum and is based entirely on user input. In addition, it is 3 years old. With those caveats, if you still want to see that file, enter “DOSchools_2013-14.xlsx” into GG’s search bar - there is only one result.
