So I’ve found tons and tons of forums comparing prep classes and the best books but I’m much more interested in what’s available on the web (and potentially my mobile phone).
Does anyone know if there are any apps out there or have any recommendations for online prep sites?
Get at me!
I like the MCAT a day app. It asked one MCAT question a day and it had the ability to review old questions and topics you felt week at.
I actually make my own MCAT flashcards (on Quizlet.com) and import them to my iPhone. I love it - making the flashcards helps reinforce the material, and then studying them helps me review it.
But you don’t have to make your own - you can import other people’s flashcards, and there are zillions of them on the site. You do have to have an app (Flashcards++), but I think it’s $4 on iTunes.
I’m not sure whether this works with phones other than the iPhone; you’d have to look into that.
I recently downloaded the flashcards+ and love it. I’m making my own as I study with examkrackers. Plus I download other mcat flashcards from other users like the MCAT mnemonics someone created.
This is NOT an endorsement just FYI (Full Disclosure: the current sales guy brought his former employer into the OPM conference and he has asked me to get feed back on his new company’s product)
There is a new company that has recently advertised on the website call benchprep that is taking existing retail prep books for all sorts of tests and making apps for them. Their MCAT stuff is from the McGraw Hill line of books. Can’t say how good they are personally but I have heard good things about them from the friends in Chicago (the company seems to have started on UofChicago)
If anyone does use them, let me know as the sales guy is looking for feedback on the product.

I used studydroid.com – for those with Android phones. There are many MCAT packs already made by other people, but of course, use at your own risk.
ed.: studydroid.com is free
When asking about online or mobile I’d go for online. When I was studying for the MCAT I did a live Kaplan course, which I would NOT recommend, but fortunately they included their online course for “free.”
While I wasn’t impressed at all with the live Kaplan course I did find the online stuff to be very good. I know a lot of people are opposed to spending money, but what is a thousand dollars when you look at the cost of medical school (trust me, its not cheap).
I agree with you ba. I though the class was useless to tedious, but I really like all of the online review.
Would highly recommend online over mobile. You should do everything possible to replicate the conditions that will be present for your actual exam, which will not include having a cell phone available to you.
(Not to imply that you can’t gain anything from mobile, just a preference for online)
