I will have do re-do Biology I (it’s very old) and take Biology II. I was considering Dallas County College online due to my work schedule (I transferring to a new unit and will work nights, 19-07) and there aren’t any local night classes here.
Has anyone had any troubles with online science classes? Has anyone heard of a medical school digging that deeply into a candidate and uncovering this “hidden” mystery?
I know transcripts don’t distinguish between online and in-class classes and I live in Texas too (for now anyway). These are the only two I’d be taking online. The rest will be here at the university in the late afternoons and they don’t have any other biology classes (general biology) that will work with my work schedule.
The current MSAR is sold out. I’ll check that out as well once the new one is ready.
All words of wisdom are welcome!!
Contact the med schools you’re interested in to see how taking online science classes is viewed. When I emailed the admissions office at UT Houston earlier this year, I was told that online classes aren’t acceptable.
How old is your Bio? I’ve contacted 3 med schools in Texas and I was told pre-reqs don’t expire.
I have two Bio’s, 1988, old as dirt , and 2001 for the 2nd Bio. I really need the refresher. I’ll be starting up at Tech for my 2nd Master’s but there is only ONE instructor for biology (he’s pretty famous); it’s offered at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and Biology 1403/1404 is offered only in Fall/Spring. I’m taking the rest of my courses there. It’s that biology that’s the kicker. The other school is 30 miles away and begins at 1 p.m. I’m also transferring from ER (really DONE with that) to ICU, nights; nights are tough, tough, tough.
Are you applying at Tech? That’s my goal school.
BTW: really like your scriptures!!
I think I’m going to skip the online pre-meds and drink tons of coffee to get to class…Thanks for the reply!!!
I don’t recall if there’s anything on the AMCAS, but a fair number of secondaries DO ask which courses were taken online.
One thing…obviously I do advocate going to class, but if one is working and keeps up with labs, it’s possible to miss a lecture here and there.
hi,
check this link :
