I have a chronic illness that has left some questionable gaps in my application (I had to withdraw from a semester for emergency surgery, completed a semester at a local college will recovering, and spent this past summer inpatient for related issues). However, my personal experiences with health/medicine and the patients/physicians I’ve met along the way are the driving force behind my wanting to pursue a career in medicine.
Though I managed to keep straight As throughout my 4 years in undergrad and believe I have sufficient experience (clinical, research, service, hobby)—I am afraid to tell my story for fear of being perceived as a weak applicant, physically unfit for the profession. But without divulging this information, I feel like my story is incomplete and I’m also a weak applicant! What do I do?
