Recommendations on clinical/research experience? PTA -> MD

Hello,

I’m currently finishing my Associate of Applied Science to become a PTA (Physical Therapist Assistant). I will be graduating in May with a 4.0 program GPA (3.9 overall), serving as class president and valedictorian. At this point, I’m set on going to medical school 3–4 years after graduation, at which time I will have approximately 5,000–6,000 hours of clinical experience. I’ll list my other activities below. Any advice on what I should add to my application to maximize my chances of getting into medical school, and how to go about it, would be greatly appreciated.

Clinical settings: Acute cardiovascular, outpatient sports medicine, and outpatient pelvic floor rehabilitation.

Planned titles/certifications: Orthopedic fellowship and PRPC (Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification).

Shadowing: 14 hours across cardiothoracic surgery, PM&R, and orthopedic spine surgery (currently ongoing and increasing regularly).

Tutoring: ~40 hours. I hold review sessions for my class before exams and create pre-rotation guides to help classmates prepare for clinical rotations I have already completed.

Volunteering: ~30 hours across various events, including the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society and local food banks. However, I do not yet have consistent long-term volunteer involvement.
