I am debating if I should take on a research opportunity-- I am done with most of pre-reqs and so far did well with GPA 4.0, and plan to take MCAT in spring. I started an internship in a hospital, where I can work on primary care delivery transformation with the whole medical team. I can see a very interesting research opportunity out of this work, examining the effectiveness of the new care delivery method the hospital is piloting.
I would love to do that. Also, as a career changer with no science background and research experience, I thought research might help my application next year. I am just wondering if I am trying to do too much, --I am working on my internship, volunteering, studying for MCAT, and starting a research. Or should I focus on MCAT and take calculus or expository writing to get the all pre-reqs done, instead of research?
I have read some of the old posts about research- and I know research is not mandatory. But if there is an opportunity, is it worth squeezing it in?
I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.
If you can handle the load and aren’t over-committed to everything else then I don’t see why not.
