Secondary Application Questions

It seems that many medical schools ask questions regarding diversity, and how you as an applicant will contribute to the diversity of their class. As a white male who grew up in a middle-class household, what is the best way to go about answering this question? Is this the wrong way to be interpreting the question? Are they really just asking about anything that makes me distinct from other applicants?

Think broadly and outside the box. What characteristics do you have/what things have you done that make you unique? They’re just trying to avoid filling a class of academically inclined automatons that can’t learn anything from one another.

I agree with Kennymac’s post!
