Sometimes the decision is made for you...

So my decision on whether or not to pursue a DIY postbacc fulltime or parttime was decided. I was let go on Wednesday, rather abruptly. My wife is acting as though we won the lottery because now I will start the prereq marathon in the Spring. She is ecstatic. I’m a bit numb. Kinda glad it happened because it made the decision easy since now there is no decision…either sink or swim. Truthfully this is what I should have done in 2000 and 2004 but I was too scared to do. Heck I’m still scared but I have no choice. So onward and upward. We’re excited after having visited a few osteopathic open houses.

So the journey begins…

So the journey gains momentum…you began it a while back. Sometimes it is nice to get the kick in the butt to just start moving.

Good luck!

'Bout dang time.

Congrats - and btw, you situation is almost exactly the one that pushed me to kick it in gear… I never looked at the situation from work as a detriment (though financially, it destroyed me), I always looked at is this way:

If it had not happened, I’d have stayed on that path. Because it did happen, I’m /gulp sitting for the MCAT in April.

Soon, you’ll be joining the rest of us

I LIKE it. Sometimes, we need a push. Other times, we need a shove.

I think it’s really special, too, that your wife is reacting the way she is. It speaks volumes about her faith in you and her excitement about this adventure for both of your lives.

When life gives you lemons, Croooz…

Congrats. I can relate. I took me loosing my job also to pick up the pace.

Thanks???

The schedule looks like this:

Spring:

Bio1

Chem2

Physics, Intro

Summer:

Phys 1

Phys 2

Fall:

Bio2

Orgo1

Spring:

Orgo2

MCAT Prep

Summer 2014: MCAT

Fall 2014: Official postbacc

I’m hoping my nieces understand that I won’t be able to take their graduation/quincenera cruise next year…no funds. We’ll see. If I’m able to be forgiven then this schedule will work pretty well with no semester being too intense. I can then really focus on grades and the MCAT. I can then get into a postbacc with a linkage and call it a day.

Hey crooze

good luck.

The only issue I can see with your schedule is the time devoted to MCAT prep. From that point of view, your schedule seems rather ambitious, but not impossible. Besides, if you screw it up, a retake would put you a bit at the end of the 2014 application season.

In any event, I wish you the best of luck.

As spoken by the great Alexander Graham Bell - “When one door closes, another opens…”

Congrats on getting let go!

Good luck w/ the journey.

Crooz,

Where are you going to school in MD?

One of the community colleges. Don’t have the funds for any of the universities.
