Sub 3.0 GPA HELP!

I spent my first couple of years in college failing semester after semester, I was horribly depressed and eventually got kicked out due to academics. I then took a year off and applied to a different school. I now have 70+ credits of straight A’s since starting at my new school. When I graduate I will hopefully have 90+ credits at a 4.0. However, my cumulative undergraduate GPA will only be at a 2.7. It will take 50 credits of postbacc classes at a 4.0 to get my cumulative GPA to a 3.0. What do you think I should do? Do you think I can go ahead and apply to medical school with a 2.7 or should I do a SMP? (Especially with an institutional action, but have lots of clinical hours, no shadowing yet, I take the MCAT next fall)

I am in a similar boat as you and am looking at SMP with incentives like interviews with their medical school. Keep it up, and don’t let anyone tell you you can’t get into a US medical school. Apply early and broadly
