SUNY school for prereqs

Hey guysI just graduated from with my associates in respiratory therapy from Molloy college and was looking forward towards pursuing medicine next. I have always felt like I had a calling towards medicine but I really wanted to see if the health field was right for me so I started with Respiratory Therapy and I love the field! I was looking forward to transfering to CUNY Queens to take my premed courses there but have you guys had an experience doing premed at either SUNY Old Westbury? I’m not sure if its wise to either go to Queens college being that Queens or SUNY Old Westbury for my premed courses. Also how do med schools look at students from state schools like SUNY? Advice?

The courses in science are good. Instructors are good with small classes. You can easily get to know the profs, build for LORs I took several bio, chem and physics courses there as a nonmatriculated student.

The caliber of students is so-so but that gives you an opportunity to tutor them, which gives you a good reputation with profs

I found the advising so-so, It is good for the college class but not so much for premed per se. They do have or did have a decent committee process but their info about the process is dated.

You can get most of what you need in process info from OPM.

I considered Queens and Columbia Post-Bacc but logistically SUNY/OW was great. You can ace classes with less competition and more personal attention than queens

thanks for the info! Do you think medical schools look down at state schools compared to private schools though?
