Would you fine folks recommend taking trig prior to taking trig-based physics? I haven’t had a math class in years and would love to keep it that way if possible.

Go through a trig book (even high-school level trig is fine) and make sure you remember it all. Sin, cosin, tangent, x-y coordinates, and some basic algebra are essential in physics. If you are rusty, fix it, either with a class or a highly-motivated focused review. Do not relearn trig while taking physics. That is some bad juju right there.
