Hello everyone,
So i know there is some debate on weather or not a pre med post bac is worth it, and although i haven’t made a decision yet, I have applied. The top two programs i got into are the program at U PENN and the program at Mills College. Does anyone know which is better? It seems like Penn is just based off of reputation, linkage programs and plus its cheaper!
Anyways, I’d appreciate all your input and references.
Thanks

Both are fairly good and well known in what they do. Penn is Ivy League but you’re right it is more reputation than anything. Both are private so you won’t be dealing with out of state tuition. Both have various tracks to go with. I think the term linkage should be used lightly because linkage is by no means a guarantee. If you do very well in one program, I don’t see any reason for a med school to reject you because you went to one over the other.
However, bare in mind some Medical Schools are more region specific and would prefer students from their own state. This is not always the case and some schools put more weight on this than others. So I recommend researching a little on this. At Mills, you have UCSF and Stanford nearby and then the rest of the CA schools like UCLA, UC Davis, USC etc. Penn will of course have Penn Medical School and Pittsburgh, Temple, Drexel etc.
Maybe something to really take a look at.
Location wise it depends on where you are now and are you willing to move to the Bay Area in California, or move to Philly. Different cultures, different weather (might be important to some people), and communities (Penn far bigger school, Mills much smaller and more intimate environment). Hope that helps.
