Hey this is probably an unusual question. I’m working on a DIY postbac and I have a couple years left. My husband and I have been thinking about becoming foster parents. It’s something we have been considering for a while, before I started considering medical school, and we’re serious about pursuing it. So my question is, do you think medical schools would consider being foster parents as fulfilling some service requirements? The answer won’t affect our decision to become foster parents, but it may affect our timing.
There isn’t any “service requirement.” Does it show that you are good people? Sure. Would I put that in your ECs? Probably not.
