I’m a licensed Professional Engineer, which took a good deal of time and focus to study for the 14-hour California exam. I’d like to mention that on my AAMCAS application (applying next cycle - 2018), as I think it helps demonstrate strength and perseverance that I would be able to focus, study, and pass the med school and USMLE exams. Anyone know how that can be included in the application? I’m not sure I want to include it as one of my 15 extracurricular slots, but I do think its important.
Thanks!
Welcome fellow PE!
I didn’t mention my license in AMCAS, but I did put it in secondary application material. I agree that it is a very impressive accomplishment that is worthy of mention, but it would likely require some explanation for medical folk who don’t know the nature of the FE/PE cycle.
There’s a work/activities section in the primary application. I think it would be appropriate there.
Work/ activities. You could use other or you could attach it to work experience of the company you worked for when you received your license and make it a memorable experience which would allow you extra characters to talk about it.
