60 years old and starting year 1

Hey Everyone,

I just discovered the group and decided that it would be great to join.

I am 60 years old and I am starting my first year of med school in the next several weeks. Very scary and very exciting. I scored a 29 on my first mcat and had a gpa of 3.71. I had 3 interviews, wait listed at my alma mater’s md school and accepted in Pennsylvania in an OD school.

You just gotta believe!!!

CONGRATS! That’s excellent news; very encouraging to all of us on the board.

And I am so glad that you have decided to join OPM - definitely keep us all posted on your progress!

Best wishes on starting M1 - you can do it!

Cool, Very, Very Cool. Let us know what goes on. Are you going to go to LECOM or PCOM?

that is wonderful and inspirational. Thank you for sharing and please keep us posted.

Would you mind telling us which schools interviewed you?

Welcome! Great to have you here. I for one will be looking forward to hearing about your journey.

Great! Welcome to OPM’s. Please keep us up to date!

Wait a minute! Are you going to medical school or optometry school? OD is an optometry degree. Or, did you mean DO?

I assume he meant DO on the basis of having taken the MCAT. Optometry schools use the OAT (which stands for what you think it does).

Oops. DO school!!! Thanks!!!

Hey Good Morning,

I interviewed with Wayne State, my alma mater, and am wait listed. I also interviewed with MSU MD school and was turned down. I interviewed with LECOM last November and I was originally wait listed as my paperwork was not complete. About 30 days later I was accepted.

Congrats again!

Yes, tell us your journey, inquiring minds want to know

Awesome!! You are brave and amazing and a total inspiration. PS 60 is the new 30 around here

Thanks for your post! I just turned 58 and thought I might be on a hopeless mission.

By the way, how did you prep for the MCAT’s (ie prep. course, retake classes, old notes, etc)?

Absolutely, beautiful…

Best wishes…

Congratulations. Looking forward to hearing more from you!!

I read your blog, but had some difficulty in posting a comment there. Can you share some more information? How old is your son? How difficult or easy was the process of finding school for him in Dominica? What was your turn around time from application to acceptance to ROSS?

Congrats!!!
